Viettel Tammi became the most downloaded free app in Vietnam
Viettel Tammi has become one of the most downloaded apps in Vietnam. In August 2026, the service ranked first among free apps with the highest number of downloads on the App Store and Google Play, surpassing VNeTraffic, ChatGPT, and TikTok.
The app was developed by Viettel Telecom. Tammi appeared in app stores in April 2026, and by mid-August Viettel reported more than 5 million users. The platform combines several categories of services in one app and is becoming the digital interface of the operator’s ecosystem.
Through Tammi, users can manage mobile services: activate plans and data packages, top up their balance, monitor data usage, and pay bills. The app also offers payments for electricity, water, and internet, as well as services for transport, shopping, and travel.
One of Tammi’s key features is its communication functions. The app supports voice and video calls, private messages, and group chats. The phone-to-app feature allows a call to be made from a regular mobile network to an app user. This option can be useful in places with weak mobile signal if the recipient has internet access.
Tammi also offers online conferences: a free meeting can include up to 500 participants and last up to 120 minutes. Viettel states that for its subscribers, mobile data used for the app’s communication functions is not charged.
The development of Tammi is part of Viettel’s strategy to expand beyond the traditional telecommunications model. Starting October 1, 2026, Viettel plans to discontinue the My Viettel app, integrating its main functions into Tammi.
