Vietnam national futsal team drew with Russia and thrashed New Zealand

The Vietnamese national team is performing successfully at the international tournament Continental Futsal Championship Thailand 2026, where the team has already played matches against Russia and New Zealand.

The Vietnam national futsal team began the tournament in Thailand with a match against one of the strongest teams in the world — Russia. The meeting ended with a score of 2:2. The result was especially notable given the teams’ positions in the world ranking: Russia is in 7th place, while Vietnam is in 22nd.

During the match, the Vietnamese team initially trailed their opponent, but managed to equalize and then take the lead. Russia leveled the score, and the match ended in a draw. Thus, Vietnam earned its first point already in the opening game of the tournament.

The next match turned out to be even more successful for the team. Vietnam confidently defeated New Zealand 4:1. The goals were scored by Châu Đoàn Phát, Nguyễn Thịnh Phát, Đa Hải, and Nguyễn Mạnh Dũng. After the first half, the Vietnamese led 2:0, and after the break they increased their advantage by two more goals.

After two matches, the Vietnam national team has collected four points. Continental Futsal Championship Thailand 2026 is being used by the team as one of the stages of preparation for upcoming international competitions and allows them to test the squad in matches against opponents of different levels.
