The international jazz festival Hanoi Jazztival 2026 is taking place in Hanoi
From September 17 to 19, Hanoi is hosting Hanoi Jazztival 2026 — the city’s first international jazz festival. The event is held under the theme “Jazz Hà Nội – Giai điệu không biên giới” (“Hanoi Jazz — melody without borders”) and brings together Vietnamese and international musicians at various venues across the capital.
The festival was organized on the initiative of the Hanoi authorities and is conceived as an annual international cultural event. Its program goes beyond traditional concert venues: performances and other activities take place at the Hanoi Opera House, Nhà Bát Giác in the Ly Thai To Garden, museums, cultural centers, hotels, and jazz clubs.
On September 17, the festival opens with the exhibition “Jazz & Phố — A Borderless Intersection” at the Thang Long Dance and Music Theater. The Vietnam Women’s Museum hosts the program Woman in Jazz, dedicated to the role of women in jazz culture. The main event of the first day is the opening night in the Music Garden of the Hanoi Opera House featuring Sông Hồng Jazz Band, Nguyen Le Special Quartet, and Senri Kawaguchi Special Fusion Band.
On September 18, the program will focus on communication and exchange between musicians and the public. Planned events include an international discussion on jazz in Hanoi, the workshop “The Language of Jazz in Traditional Music,” a Jam Jazz Session, the concert Jazz Without Borders in the Music Garden of the Hanoi Opera House, and late-night jam sessions in the city’s jazz clubs.
On September 19, the festival will move into the urban space. The Street Jazz program will take place on the pedestrian street around Hoan Kiem Lake, and the concert “Jazz and Heritage” will be held at the Center for Culture and Arts on Hang Buom Street, combining contemporary jazz with traditional Vietnamese musical materials. The festival will conclude with a gala concert at Nhà Bát Giác in the Ly Thai To Garden.
The organizers have also invited musicians from various countries, including the United States, France, South Korea, and Japan. At the same time, the festival emphasizes not only international performances but also the development of the Vietnamese jazz scene and its interaction with the country’s traditional culture. In the future, Hanoi Jazztival is planned to be developed as an annual international jazz festival in the capital.
