New pedestrian street in Hai Phong
Starting August 28, a permanent pedestrian zone with cultural events, street food, and fairs aimed at both residents and tourists will appear in the center of Hai Phong.
The grand opening of the new pedestrian street will take place on August 28, 2026 at 18:00 at Hai Phong City Theater Square. The project is being implemented in the area of the Central Flower Garden and the City Theater and is aimed at developing the nighttime economy and making more active use of public spaces in the city center.
The pedestrian zone will operate on a permanent basis on Friday and Saturday evenings. It will stretch from the intersection of Quang Trung and Me Linh streets to the intersection of Tran Hung Dao and the gas station area, connecting this section with the City Theater Square and the flagpole square in front of the theater.
On the opening day, about 25–30 торговых стендов will be prepared for visitors. They will feature dishes of Hai Phong local cuisine, signature products, and products from the OCOP program “One Commune — One Product.” Artistic and street performances will also take place at the venue.
A separate part of the program will be the gastronomic event “Delicious Dishes of Hai Phong” with the participation of chefs and local artisans. The evening will also include a parade, a concert program, street art, and an introduction for visitors to the various areas of the new zone.
The city expects that the pedestrian street will become an additional attraction point for tourists and help develop restaurants, trade, crafts, and cultural projects in the central part of Hai Phong. The authorities also plan to use the venue to promote local goods and services, including through digital technologies and cashless payments.
The new location will also be used for major themed events. On October 17 and 18, 2026, a program dedicated to esports and technology is planned in the area of the City Theater Square and the flagpole square.
