In Nha Trang, a store was fined for selling counterfeit Nike and Adidas products

In Nha Trang, the Sport Market store on Tran Quang Khai Street was fined 50 million dong for selling shoes with counterfeit Nike and Adidas trademarks. In addition to the fine, the authorities ordered the owner to destroy 180 pairs of counterfeit shoes. This was reported on September 5 by local market management authorities.
The inspection began after a complaint from a female customer. She said that she saw the store’s advertisement from local bloggers and KOLs and decided to buy two pairs of shoes there — Nike and Adidas — to send to her boyfriend in Russia. She paid 1.3 million dong for both pairs.
According to the customer, the store employees assured her that the shoes were original. After the goods were sent to Russia, specialists examined the shoes and determined that the products were not original and showed signs of being counterfeit. When the woman tried to contact the store to resolve the issue, she was refused a refund on the grounds that she did not have a receipt.
After receiving the complaint, the Khanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade instructed Market Surveillance Team No. 1 to conduct an inspection. During the inspection, specialists found shoes bearing Nike and Adidas trademarks at Sport Market, which were recognized as counterfeit.
As a result of the inspection, the retail outlet was given an administrative fine of 50 million dong for trading goods that counterfeit protected trademarks. All 180 pairs of identified counterfeit shoes are subject to destruction in accordance with established regulations.
This case occurred amid intensified inspections of trade in goods showing signs of intellectual property rights violations in Nha Trang. In August, Khanh Hoa police also reported inspections of other stores where goods with Nike and Adidas logos were found, and whose origin and authenticity raised questions.
The authorities continue to inspect retail outlets selling clothing, footwear, and other goods of well-known brands, paying attention to compliance with intellectual property protection laws.
