In Hung Yen, two foreigners were detained in a fake diploma case
Police suspect citizens of Bangladesh and India of producing and selling fake diplomas and certificates from Vietnamese universities.
Police in Hung Yen Province detained two foreign nationals — one from Bangladesh and one from India — on suspicion of producing and selling forged educational documents. These included diplomas and certificates imitating documents from Vietnamese universities.
According to law enforcement, the suspects worked on client orders. They agreed in advance on exactly which document needed to be produced, its contents, and the price, after which they prepared fake diplomas with logos, seals, and other elements intended to make the documents look genuine.
To produce the documents, clients provided the suspects with photos of their identity cards, as well as personal photographs. These materials were used to prepare fake diplomas and certificates in the names of specific individuals.
Police determined that the suspects were producing documents as part of an organized scheme. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the case, including the circle of people who may have approached the foreigners for fake documents.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against both detainees under Article 341 of Vietnam’s Criminal Code — a provision establishing liability for producing or using forged seals, documents, and papers of state and public organizations.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are also identifying possible clients and other circumstances related to the suspects’ activities.
