At Hanoi Noi Bai Airport, the flows at passport control have been separated
Separate queues have been introduced in the international terminal T2 for different categories of passengers, including foreigners, which should reduce waiting times and ease the load on passport control.
Since the beginning of August, the organization of passport control at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport international terminal T2 has been changed. Passenger flows are now divided into separate categories: foreign nationals, Vietnamese citizens, VIP passengers, flight crews, and transit travelers.
Previously, passengers from different categories could stand in the same queue. If one person had document issues or required additional screening, it delayed all passengers behind them. The new system is intended to make the control process more organized and reduce pressure during peak hours.
According to the airport, after the flows were separated, the average passenger processing time decreased from about 26–27 minutes to 16 minutes. In some cases, travelers pass through control in just 4–5 minutes, whereas previously waiting during busy periods could take from 30 minutes to an hour or more.
A separate queue with corresponding signs has been organized for foreign passengers. Therefore, when passing through control in T2, tourists should now pay attention to the signs for foreign nationals and not join the line for Vietnamese citizens.
At the same time, the airport has changed the organization of car pickup after arrival. Since August 3, Grab and Xanh SM vehicles with fewer than nine seats are directed to special parking areas: at terminal T2, passengers are picked up at P1, and when that parking area is full, at P7. Regular licensed taxis continue to pick up passengers directly at the terminal.
The changes are related to growing passenger traffic and the need to reduce crowding of people and vehicles near the international terminal.
