Dragon boat races will take place in Hanoi
On October 3 and 4, open dragon boat and stand-up paddleboard competitions will take place on West Lake in Hanoi. The tournament is dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of the capital and will bring together Vietnamese and international athletes. The competitions are organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in cooperation with Vietnam Airlines. The program will begin on October 3 with SUP competitions. From 13:30 to 17:00, preliminary heats and semifinals are scheduled. Athletes will compete in several disciplines, including sprint, technical races, and a family relay.
The main dragon boat racing program will take place on October 4. The official opening is scheduled for 8:00 at Ly Tu Trong Garden, after which preliminary heats will begin at 9:00. In the afternoon, semifinals and finals will be held, and the event will conclude with an awards ceremony.
In the dragon boat races, teams will cover a distance of 500 meters. Each boat is designed for 12 people: ten paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer. The competitions on West Lake are being held not only as a sporting event.
