How to cross the border

Na Meo

Laos

Stamp run (border and back)

1. Exit Vietnam by presenting your passport with a valid visa and receive an exit stamp.

2. Walk approximately 500 meters through the neutral zone.

3. Enter Laos (fill out the form and pay 50,000 VND (15,000 LAK) for entry to the nature reserve where the border checkpoint is located).

4. After passing the checkpoint in Laos, turn around and return to Vietnam; to do this, fill out the exit form for Laos, pass through the neutral zone, present your passport, and re-enter Vietnam.

5. Make sure to check the entry stamp in your passport and verify the expiration date (it is handwritten below the stamp); if the border officer makes a mistake, point it out immediately on the spot.

6. Return straightaway to the bus/car; the scheduled departure is at 8:30 a.m. The bus leaves only when all passengers have arrived. Try not to linger and help those who are lagging behind to save everyone time. A lunch stop is planned on the return way, three hours away from the border.

Visa run (with a wait for the visa)

1. Exit Vietnam by presenting your passport with a valid visa and receive an exit stamp.

2. Immediately send us a photo of the exit stamp from the same account you used to sign up.

3. Walk approximately 500 meters through the neutral zone.

4. Enter Laos (fill out the form and pay 50,000 VND (15,000 LAK) for entry to the nature reserve where the border checkpoint is located).

5. In Laos, there are two cafés waiting for you: one on the left (about 50 meters after the border) and one on the right (along the main road past the gas station, about 200 meters); both locations have Vietnamese mobile coverage, Wi-Fi is available, and payments can be made in Vietnamese dong.

6. Once your visa is ready (around 11:00 AM), return to Vietnam immediately (Laos border officers have lunch from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM).

7. If your visa is already ready, return to Vietnam; to do this, fill out the exit form for Laos, pass through the neutral zone, present your e-visa on your phone and your passport, and re-enter Vietnam.

8. Make sure to check the entry stamp in your passport and verify the expiration date (it is handwritten below the stamp); if the border officer makes a mistake, point it out immediately on the spot — the date must match the one shown in your e-visa.

9. Return to the bus. The bus leaves only when all passengers have arrived. Try not to linger and help those who are lagging behind to save everyone's time. A lunch stop is scheduled on the return journey, approximately three hours after crossing the border. Your visa will be sent to your email — please watch your inbox (we no longer send visas to the chat).
